Wynard Ward hold vintage cake sale for the Eve Appeal

Staff on Wynard Ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have raised over £600 for the Eve Appeal by holding a tea party and cake sale.

The Eve Appeal is a national charity raising awareness and funding research into the five gynaecological cancers – ovarian, womb, cervical, vaginal and vulval.

To mark Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in March, the charity holds their flagship fundraising campaign ‘Make Time for Tea’, which encourages people to hold tea parties to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

The Wynard team created a fantastic array of cakes, cookies, scones and biscuits for the tea party and cake sale, which was held in the ward’s dining room. The area was decorated with bunting, balloons and daffodils to give the tea party a real vintage feel.

Wynard Ward Clark Karen Clare said: “On Wynard we support the Eve Appeal throughout the year and, as we are a gynaecology ward, we have sort of adopted it as our official charity.  This is the second year in a row that we have supported the Make Time for Tea campaign and we set ourselves the challenge of beating what we raised last year, which we have achieved! We’d like to thank all the staff and friends who have donated cakes, including Debbie Keast from Lushaliscious who donated some lovely tray bakes and cupcakes.”
