Junior doctor strike 10 February

A number of postponements have been made to clinics and procedures at the RD&E tomorrow (10 February) during the second day of industrial action by junior doctors and dentists.

Please note that only a minority of the work carried out here on a daily basis has been postponed, so please come to any appointment you have unless you have been advised that is one of those postponed.

The strike begins at 8am and concludes at 8am on Thursday. We will be maintaining full emergency and urgent services during this time, however, please consider alternatives to visiting our Emergency Department for anything other than life-threatening conditions or serious injuries. Calling 111 for advice is often the best way to start if you’re unsure about where to go.

An RDE spokesman said: “Our consultants will be replacing many junior doctor on wards tomorrow during the strike, but unfortunately that does mean some postponements to the clinical work they would normally have been doing.

“There are 246 outpatient appointments and 14 surgical procedures postponed, which is about the same as on the day of the previous strike. We don’t like to postpone any work, so we’ve tried to give everyone a new date when we’ve given them the news.

“We’ll still be seeing hundreds of people as usual, so unless you have heard otherwise, please come to your appointment or procedure as planned.”

Call 111 when its less than urgent
