Head and neck cancer
Head and neck cancer is a relatively uncommon type of cancer. However, there are more than 30 areas within the head and neck where cancer can develop, including the lips and mouth (oral cavity), larynx (voice box), nose and sinuses, pharynx (throat), salivary glands and nasopharynx (the area at the back of the nose and mouth).
We provide the best possible care for patients who are diagnosed with head and neck malignancies. We provide support, information, counselling and education to you and your relatives and carers throughout treatment.
A cancer diagnosis has a great impact on patients and carers, physically, emotionally, and psychologically. We aim to provide the highest possible standard of care for all our patients at every stage in their pathway.

Our Head and Neck Cancer Recovery Group helps to support patients who have received treatment for head and neck cancer. Many patients have side-effects from their treatment and it can help to discuss these with people who have had similar experiences. This can help to reduce feelings of isolation as well as provide practical advice. The group meets at the FORCE Cancer Centre on the first Thursday of every month, 10am-11.45. To find out more about the group, please contact us on 01392 402215.
FORCE Cancer Charity works locally to support anyone affected by cancer and will work closely with the people involved in your treatment. Find out more about the support FORCE can offer at forcecancercharity.co.uk.
Health and wellbeing clinics are also offered to patients with a diagnosis of cancer to help support you through your pathway. Your nursing team will be able to provide you with more information on the structure and content of these sessions.
