A-Z Services - Vascular Surgery (Surgery 1) Style of our service

You are here: Home \ Patients & Visitors \ Vascular Surgery \ Style of our service

We give the very highest priority to informing patients both verbally and with good written material.  That is the main service that we offer to many patients referred to us.  It is vital that people understand the nature of their condition and that they receive good medical management to reduce their risk of future problems.

We request special investigations through the interventional radiologists in the x-ray department and the physicists in the clinical measurements department when there is any question of treatment.  Common investigations are duplex scanning (for carotid artery problems, aortic aneurysms, and varicose veins) and arterial imaging – often by magnetic resonance or CT imaging (for occlusive arterial disease and aortic aneurysms).

We offer a full range of conventional surgery for both arterial disease and varicose veins, we have also developed the use of modern minimally invasive treatments to a  high standard.  These include EndoVascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) for abdominal aortic aneurysms; balloon angioplasty and stenting (including sub-intimal angioplasty for extensive occlusive disease in the legs) and foam sclerotherapy for varicose veins.
