Mr Matthew J Wilson MB BS FRCS (Tr&Orth)
Matthew Wilson studied medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, at the University of London, qualifying in 1997. After basic surgical training in Reading and Oxford, he completed his higher surgical training in orthopaedic surgery at the prestigious Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.

Before undertaking sub-speciality training in hip surgery Matthew completed a trauma fellowship at the renowned Mass. General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Following this Matthew moved, with his family, to the South-West of England to undertake the Hip Fellowship here in Exeter. Towards the end of his fellowship Matthew was invited to spend a year working as a consultant in the Exeter Hip Unit. During this time he developed an interest in surgery of the young adult hip and subsequently completed further sub-speciality training in Cambridge in the field of young adult hip surgery. Matthew is one of a handful of surgeons in the country who is fellowship-trained in hip arthroscopy.

Matthew was appointed as a consultant surgeon to the Hip Unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in 2010. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of disorders of the young adult hip, complex primary and revision hip surgery.
