Joining us for the first time? Welcome!

Most likely someone from your Consultant’s team will have asked you to visit. We are glad that you have joined us here, thank you for sparing us some of your time.

You may be about to have your first appointment here at the RD&E with a member of the knee team, or you may have had appointments or knee surgery in the past with us.

Patients that have been with us for some time will know that alongside your physical assessment, care and review sessions comes a certain amount of form filling. This can seem like a bit of a nuisance, but actually it forms quite a crucial aspect of your ongoing monitoring. It helps us to see whether your condition is stable or deteriorating, and it can help us monitor the results of any treatment we provide for you.

As an additional benefit – where possible – patients who have added scores to our system from before surgery can have some of their later follow-up reviews without the need to even attend the RD&E!

Completing our forms is now being made even easier with our new system which allows you to respond either online from the comfort of your home, or using our tablet computers in the clinic waiting room.

This saves paper, of course. But we also hope that once our patients become accustomed to the system, it will become much more convenient too.

Register for the first time and complete your forms.

What are clinical outcome measures?

Clinical outcomes are a method of recording and comparing your physical progress and wellbeing, as well as your quality of life, before and after a clinical intervention.

Understanding your experience as a patient of the RD&E, and the effect your treatment has had on you, is important to us. This information helps us to tailor our follow-up treatment for your needs, and informs us of the best treatments to offer future patients. Some of this information may feed into formal research trials, although your data would be anonymized for this.

All healthcare processes abide by GDPR and your Consultant is registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) as a data controller. Your data is completely secure and will not be shared identifiably.

A note from your Consultant

Your experience as my patient and the outcome of your treatment is important to me. It is also important that I can demonstrate the quality of my practice to you and others.

Using simple software, we can track our recovery far into the future, giving you peace of mind and allowing us to ensure you are receiving quality care.

The RD&E’s outcomes programme helps us to improve services and treatments offered to you and future patients.
