Our Shoulder and Elbow Team provides a comprehensive shoulder and elbow service for adult patients.


The team assess, diagnose and manage all conditions affecting the shoulder and elbow in adult patients. This includes reconstructive arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and replacement surgery.


The team comprises of three consultant surgeons, an extended scope physiotherapist, a surgical care practioner, and a shoulder and elbow fellow (surgical trainee in his last year of training before commencing as a consultant).  The team works closely with three musculoskeletal radiologists, who are experts in the field of shoulder and elbow pathology.  Additional junior doctors are involved with the in-patient management of the patients.

The Exeter Shoulder and Elbow team have an established research portfolio and are currently involved in research projects involving frozen shoulder, shoulder replacements for osteoarthritis, shoulder replacements for fractures and rotator cuff problems..
