Patients coming into the RD&E for planned surgery can now view this film to explain what they can generally expect from pre-op assessment and throughout their hospital stay.

Senior Matron for Preparation for Surgery, Hayley Peters, said: “We understand why our patients may feel anxious about coming into hospital for surgery and hope this film provides useful information and reassurance. We want our patients to know they can ‘Just Ask’ if they have any questions or concerns. This is particularly important for patients to make informed consent about their treatment.”

Frontline hospital staff presented information in the film to cover points most commonly raised by patients and their families. There may be some differences specific to types of surgery but the film is intended as a general guide.
