Patient video consultations

More information for outpatients

Attend Anywhere is the technology we use for our confidential video consultations. Video consultations enable you to have your appointment via a completely secure video environment from the comfort of your own home. You can connect using a PC, Mac or an iOS/ android device via a web browser. Your clinician or a member of the booking team will advise you that your appointment will be held as a video consultation.

Using the A-Z below, please click on the name of the area you wish to attend to get the web-link to join your 'Attend Anywhere' appointment.

What to expect

If your appointment is to be held as a video consultation, your clinician or a member of the booking team will inform you and you will be sent a letter containing your appointment details.

Five minutes before your appointment time, click on the ‘Start video call’ button above for the service you have an appointment with.

You will be taken through a series of steps to ensure that your equipment is set up correctly. Once the steps have been completed, you will be prompted to enter your name, date of birth and telephone number and accept the terms and conditions. This information is not stored beyond the length of the video consultation.

Once these steps have been followed, click on the ‘Start Call’ button and you will enter the waiting room until your consultation begins. You will see yourself on the video and hear music. The waiting room is private and you will not see other patients.

When the consultation is ready to begin, your image will shrink and move to the corner of the screen and you will see your clinician.

Frequently asked questions

If I have a video consultation will I then always have to see my doctor via a video link?
No, video consultations will only be used by our clinicians in circumstances where physical examinations and diagnostic tests are not required.

Video consultations are a solution to long journeys, car parking costs and delays in clinic currently experienced by patients but will not replace the requirement for patients to come into hospital for a physical examination.

I don’t have a device that has a camera and microphone; can I still have a video consultation?

Unfortunately not, to hold an effective video consultation our clinicians will need to both see and hear you therefore your device must have a camera and a microphone. Please press ‘Ok’ for all camera and microphone access pop ups.

Would you recommend using Wi-Fi or 4G to access my appointment?

You can access your appointment using either Wi-Fi or 4G, however we would recommend using a Wi-Fi network as 4G coverage across some parts of Devon can sometimes be unreliable. Accessing your appointment using Wi-Fi will also ensure you avoid unnecessary use of your data allowance.
