Maternity antenatal/postnatal ward restrictions eased at RD&E

9 Feb 2022

We have eased our antenatal/postnatal ward restrictions across the RD&E. While restrictions are still in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, we understand how important visiting is, and so our careful and COVID-19 secure approach will allow social distancing to be maintained and infection control risks managed.

As such, a nominated support person can now visit our antenatal/postnatal ward from 9am to 8pm each day.

To help us continue to keep our patients and staff safe, we ask that patients have just one nominated visitor for the duration of their stay. Please note that we are still unable to allow visits from children at this time. In addition:

  • Nominated visitors will be asked to confirm that they have completed a negative lateral flow test within the last 24 hours. Please note that while visual confirmation/proof of a negative lateral flow is not required, we ask that visitors please take a lateral flow test within 24 hours and confirm this negative result when booking your appointment to help us keep our patients, staff and other visitors safe.
  • A face covering must be worn at all times, including when entering and moving through an RD&E healthcare setting, unless medically exempt from wearing a mask.

Please note that times and nominated visitors for labour ward remain unchanged at this time.
