International Women's Day - Toni Hall, Radiography Services Manager

8 Mar 2021

To mark International Women’s Day we are celebrating the brilliant and inspirational women who work for the trust.

Now, if there’s one thing we don’t have in short supply here it’s inspirational women. So, we’ve picked five women to talk to, one for each day of the week, as a snapshot of the thousands of amazing women who work with us across Devon.

Today we meet Toni Hall, Radiology Services Manager at the RD&E. She tells the story of how opportunities for women in healthcare have changed, as she follows in her grandmother’s footsteps.

“I've been very fortunate to have not come across barriers as I move through my career, I think that is due to the women that have gone before me and have already been in influential positions,” she says.

Toni’s Grandmother was a radiographer at the Middlesex Hospital in the 1940s, a hospital that Toni herself would eventually work in decades later. Her grandmother stopped work to start a family. Now, 80 years later and with a young family of her own Toni's pleased that she has been able to carry on with her career.

“I think it demonstrates the advancements that have been made in the opportunities for women to perform and continue to contribute to the workforce,” she says.
