Have you recently attended our emergency department?

5 Aug 2021

Due to the increased pressure on emergency departments (ED) in hospitals across Devon, the NHS in Devon has asked Healthwatch to find out from people what brought them to the ED and whether they accessed other services beforehand.

Healthwatch Devon is the independent consumer champion for people using local health and social care services in Devon. They are here to listen to what people like about services and what could be improved, and share those views with service providers.

People will be invited to have a short conversation with Healthwatch staff at all four of Devon’s acute hospital EDs over the next three weeks to better understand why people are attending ED and whether they could have been treated elsewhere (such as a GP practice, pharmacy or minor injury service).

Those who have had a recent experience at our ED are also being asked for their feedback.

Have you, or a loved one, used the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford) ED during the past two months?

If so, Healthwatch Devon would like to hear from you.

  • Why did you go to the ED?
  • How did you find the experience?
  • What worked well - What didn't go so well?
  • Were you sent there, if so by who?
  • Was ED the most appropriate choice for your needs?
