Hours

Annual Leave

Bank workers are entitled to 28 days pro rata annual leave per year,
Currently there is no provision for paid maternity leave or occupational sick pay. Bank workers are however entitled to SMP dependant on the amount of N.I. contributions made.

Maternity Leave

Staff who have a break from the bank for maternity leave are entitled to return to the bank on condition they update their mandatory training (manual handling, H&S, Fire, BLS). Expectant mothers must notify the Manager, Staff Bank as soon as they are aware of their pregnancy to allow for health and safety assessments.

An HR Advisor can be contacted for advice on maternity benefits. To book a place for the session on maternity leave and entitlements please contact Bowmoor House reception on 01392 406479.

Health and safety

Every member of the bank has a duty of care to ensure that they are aware of health and safety risks to themselves, however sometimes accidents occur. Any accidents or incidents at work must be reported to the nurse in charge of the wards that you are working. An accident / incident report must be completed. If the accident / incident has left you unable to carry out your duties then you must notify the Senior Matron, Staff Bank (ward support if out of hours), within 24 hours of the incident occuring.

Uniform

Bank nurses and midwives will be issued two uniforms. Uniforms remain the property of the Trust, must only be worn on Trust business and should be returned on termination of registration with the Nurse Bank. A deposit for uniforms is payable on appointment. This is refundable on return of uniforms.
