Families of renal patients invited to a day to remember and celebrate at Bicton College

Friends and relatives of patients who have received care and support from the Exeter Kidney Unit are invited to a remembrance celebration at Bicton College on Sunday 13th September from 11am.

The event has been organised by staff from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital as an opportunity for relatives to remember their loved ones, celebrate life, give thanks to donors and their families and to show appreciation for the work of the unit.

Guests are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy the flower garden, arboretum, lake and boat house in the beautiful grounds of Bicton College and to mingle with other attendees if they wish.

A service will follow at 1.30pm, led by the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital Chaplaincy Team, before a chance to scatter flowers on the lake in memory of family members, friends, and donors.

Viv Taylor, Renal Supportive Care Nurse at the Exeter Kidney Unit, said: “This will be a lovely opportunity for relatives, friends and the renal team to unite in remembering those lost through kidney disease but to also celebrate their life. We warmly welcome anyone who wishes to join us at this event.”

The event will run from 11am until 3pm on Sunday 13th September at Bicton College, East Budleigh, EX9 7BY. The venue is wheelchair friendly.
