New television for ICU in memory of Harvey

The visitors’ room at the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter Foundation Trust has a new addition – thanks to the generosity of the wife of a former patient.

Roslyn Rowlerson, whose husband, Harvey, died in October 2011, wanted to give patients’ visitors a television as a means of passing the time in the room.

She said: “Having spent so long here, we know how well used a television will be. The fish tank is beautiful but a television will be a wonderful distraction for people.”

Andy Jackson, Senior Matron on ICU, said: “We are very grateful to Mrs Rowlerson for her very generous donation. This will enhance the experience of families visiting their loved ones in ICU which we understand can be a very stressful experience at times.”

The wide-screen television is mounted on the far wall of the room, providing a big picture for visitors to enjoy.
