South West Peninsula AHSN prospectus
Following the publication of 'Innovation Health and Wealth‘, Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) will be established to transform health outcomes and the delivery of healthcare in England by bringing together the local NHS, higher education institutions and industry to focus on improving the identification, adoption and spread of innovative health care across each specific AHSN.
The South West Peninsula AHSN is made up of a range of NHS, academic, other public sector and industry organisations in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.
The work of AHSNs will be supported by a five-year licence and funding agreement for delivery of a range of defined functions. Click here for the newsletter providing an update on the progress the SW Peninsula AHSN is making towards its accreditation.
The South West Peninsula has a unique geography, a strong tradition of collaborative working and outstanding achievements in clinical care and research. The South West Peninsula partners aspire to create the most successful AHSN in the country, aligned to a shared, three-fold ambition:
- To become a UK and global exemplar of research participation and discovery.
- To spread innovation and best practice to make services the best they can be.
- To create a step change in wealth creation through enhanced commercial activity and employment opportunities.
We have worked with partners across our footprint to co-author this Prospectus and Business Plan, which set out our ambitions for the future and our joint commitment to making change happen.
