Smokefree RD&E joins high profile campaign
Visitors and patients to the Royal Devon & Exeter Wonford Hospital will not be able to miss eyecatching colourful banners reminding the public of the no-smoking policy on the hospital trust sites and promoting where smokers can get free advice and support.
Funded by Smokefree South West, giant banners are on display on building walls at locations popular with smokers.
Chief Executive, Angela Pedder said: “The NHS is committed to improving the health of local people and it is generally expected of healthcare organisations to support initiatives of this kind. Smoking is often an important contributory factor for a range of illnesses including the heart, lungs and some cancers.
“We have signed up in support of this campaign because our hospital site is visited by hundreds of thousands of people each year so we can play our part in reaching our community with this public health message.”
