The RD&E is a high quality hospital environment for patients
The Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation continues to provide a clean and well maintained hospital environment for its patients.
Assessment results published in a new NHS Information Centre report today (31 August) confirmed that the Royal Devon & Exeter hospital scored ‘Good’ ratings across the three categories: food, environment and privacy and dignity.
The Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) assessments inspect 1,222 NHS sites, as well as 141 independent hospitals.
- The RD&E was among the 93 per cent which scored either good or excellent for the environment which assessed standards of cleanliness, decoration, linen, furniture and state of repair.
- The RD&E was among the 98 per cent of sites scoring good or excellent for the levels of privacy and dignity which examined the quality of sleeping accommodation as well as toilet/bathroom facilities.
- The RD&E was among the 99 per cent of sites rated good or excellent for the quality, choice and availability of food for patients.
Diane Ody, Divisional Manager for Operations and Facilities at the RD&E said: “The PEAT results confirm that we consistently provide a good quality of hospital environment, food and levels of privacy and dignity for our patients. These are important aspects of patient care. The self-assessment PEAT data, along with patient satisfaction surveys, help us identify areas we can improve.”
“We have a duty to our patients, visitors and staff to ensure our hospital is as clean and safe as possible. For our patients, their bed space is their home during their stay so we want them to have confidence in us to keep it clean and maintained."
