RD&E Neonatal unit benefits from £750 donation

The Unity Lodge of Freemasons in Crediton has kindly donated £750 to the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust Neonatal Unit.

Master of the Lodge, David Jaques and his wife Rebecca chose to donate the money to theNeonatal unit cheque presentationunit as a thank you for the life saving treatment their daughter Alexandra, now eight years old, received when she was born.

Rebecca encountered problems during birth which led to Alexandra losing most of her blood. David praised the swift action of the neonatal intensive care team, which resulted in Alexandra making a full recovery.

The family presented the cheque to Sue Prosser, senior matron on the unit, who said: “We are really grateful to the Crediton Freemasons for their generosity and it was fantastic to meet the Jacques family and see Alexandra grown up and healthy. We have been able to use the donation to purchase a resuscitation training mannequin to help with teaching staff and rehearsing various scenarios to ensure the response to any problems encountered during birth is as swift as possible.”
