The Royal Devon & Exeter Foundation Trust highest ranked NHS laundry provider

The RD&E laundry and linen service has beaten off stiff competition to enter a national agreement, which will open doors for the service allowing it to generate further RD&E Laundry serviceincome for the Trust.

Out of the 13 suppliers (6 Commercial and 7 NHS laundry providers) who submitted applications for this national framework agreement, the Royal Devon & Exeter Foundation Trust was placed 3rd overall. It was also the highest ranked of the NHS laundry providers on the basis of ‘its competence, professionalism and ability to provide the available services in an efficient and cost effective manner’.

John Herbert, Linen Services Manager, said: “This is a great result for our team, and the rest of the hospital – the staff work really hard to ensure they provide a top quality service within the hospital and it is great to see that this is recognised. Entering the national framework agreement will allow us to extend our work outside of the organisation, earning additional money for the Trust which can be used towards improving patient experience.”

The laundry at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital is one of the largest NHS laundries in the country providing a fully managed linen and laundry service for the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and also for other acute Trust's, Primary Care Trusts and a number of private healthcare and non-healthcare establishments throughout the South West area.
