RD&E finance boss takes up national presidency role

Royal Devon & Exeter Director of Finance & Business Development Suzanne Tracey is now the President of the HFMA which promotes the highest standards in financial management and governance in healthcare.

The presidency role has passed to Suzanne at a time when the NHS faces significant financial challenges against the backdrop of national public spending constraint to address the national budget deficit.

The HFMA is the representative body for healthcare finance staff and standards in the profession.  Suzanne is only the second woman to become the honorary head of the association history.  In an interview for the HFMA magazine on her appointment Suzanne said the attractions of working in the NHS are “the first class people I get to work with, the variety and opportunities in the sector and the real sense of being able to do a job that makes a difference.”

Suzanne joined the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust Board of Directors in 2008 and was previously Director of Finance & Deputy Chief Executive at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Her NHS career started in 1993 having qualified at Price Waterhouse. She is also a trustee for the Healthcare Financial Management Association and was elected as Vice President for the HFMA in 2009.
