Our Commitment to You – Disability

Let ability shine

The RD&E wants all staff to be able to work to the best of their ability and skill within their role, to contribute to the excellent services provided.

Investing in adjustments

We have made significant investments in reasonable adjustments to make sure all staff with a disability (whether physical or mental) can work to their full potential and develop their skills. Human Resources specialists work with staff and their managers to help find reasonable adjustments that can benefit all. Each staff member is treated individually, case by case.

Changes to the workplace can include:

  • Adjusting furniture
  • Working environment
  • Altering working hours
  • Additional training
  • Providing specialist equipment
  • Modifying equipment
  • Additional support

Further support

The RD&E has an Occupational Health Service available to staff to help support them in the workplace. Staff can refer themselves for confidential assessment and advice.

The Trust will also do its best to provide mentors or buddies to any staff with a disability, to provide advice, friendship and help in the workplace.

Zero tolerance

Fairness, dignity, equality and respect are all basic human rights, so we cannot afford anything less than zero tolerance if ever they are breached.

We expect all staff to challenge any breach of these rights, whether staff-side or service-side. This could be informally or formally through procedures such as grievance, disciplinary, whistle blowing or incident reporting.

Any queries?
