Explanation / description: |
The Haematology Unit comprises 10 single rooms and a 3 bed bay in-patient ward, a daycare unit and outpatient clinic. There are 7 Haematology Consultants, 2 Specialist Registrars, 1 Staff Grade and 2 Senior House Officers. The nurses have a variety of specialist skills which include administrating chemotherapy. There is also a Clinical Nurse Specialist who sees patients as both outpatients and inpatients when appropriate. She is also qualified as a Nurse Prescriber |

The Haematology Unit has a dedicated entrance and reception area. This can be found by driving through the large disabled car park opposite the Oncology Centre entrance. There are 3 dedicated disabled car parking spaces just outside the entrance. Patients undergoing long term treatments can usually obtain permits for free parking when they arrive for treatment (at the Haematology Reception desk) |

Visitors who have active infections or bad coughs and visitors who have had contact with people with infectious problems (e.g. chickenpox) may not visit. If visitors have experienced diarrhoea and vomiting, they must not visit until they have been sympton free for at least 48 hours. |

Yarty has a support worker / counsellor and an aromatherapist who work part time and are both funded by Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
