Explanation / description:

The Neonatal unit has intensive care, high dependency and special care cots to care for premature and sick newborn babies. The unit has a total of 22 cots and is staffed by a team of Consultants, Doctors, Neonatal Nurses, Nursery Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Neonatal Unit Assistants. It also has a separate transitional care area, and the numbers of babies cared for in the whole unit depends on the dependency of the care they require. At times, the unit can provide care for up to 26 babies.

Enter the main atruim entrance for Child & Women's Health. Proceed to the security desk. Go through the double doors and turn left. Go up to first floor, turn right and first right again, neonatal unit is first on the left. Please ring the bell and await assistance.

Due to the risk of infection – children other than siblings are not allowed to visit the neonatal unit.
All other visitors are asked not to visit if they have a heavy cold, sore throat, cough, or have had sickness or diarrhoea within the last 48 hours
