In order that we can achieve this our staff have a range of skills, knowledge and responsibilities and offer a variety of services
All staff are equally valued within the team as without this skill mix the service cannot be delivered.

Supply Services
We provide a comprehensive range of supply services, including: - dispensing for inpatients, discharges, out-patients, discharge prescriptions, clinical trials and CD’s (Controlled Drugs).
Medicines Management and POD’s (Patient Own Drug scheme) has been introduced to a number of wards and its expansion is currently ongoing.
Ward stock and ward top-up both in the main hospital and to the local Community and Partnership Mental Health Trusts.
Aseptic supply of adult TPN, paediatric TPN, Cytotoxic and other CIVAS products are dispensed for individual patients and produced in bulk through our aseptic manufacturing facility.
We also have licensed pre-packing and wholesale units that supply commercially to Trusts around the country.
Clinical Services
Clinical Services are being continually developed and we have a number of specialist pharmacists working as part of multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the safe, effective use of drugs.
Clinical Economy
This is supported by our interface and formulary pharmacist who works closely with the local PCT’s. We have a Joint Formulary which is available both in paper form and on-line.
Training and Development
We support a range of postgraduate diplomas and courses for all grades of staff as well as NVQ training from level 2 upwards. We have a structured induction course for all new staff which aims to give an introduction to the Trust and to our department. This includes essential training as well as more personal aspects of how you will fit into our team.
We are also involved in training Medical Students as part of the Peninsula Medical School and a variety of nurse training including regular drug updates.
