Patients sometimes need to undergo blood tests to aid the diagnosis of illnesses. Blood tests are undertaken in our outpatient departments by phlebotomists.
The service provided by the RD&E Hospital is carried out in the medical outpatient department on D1 and in the Women’s Centre for Health. To access the service patients need a blood test referral form from their GP or consultant.
Clinic times are listed below and most patients are seen on a walk-in basis. At the Women's Centre for Health clinic, patients are asked to take a ticket and wait for their turn to be called; there is usually no more than a 15 minute wait. At the medical outpatient clinic there is no ticket system, patients are seen according to time of arrival.
