General description of what the service does:

Counselling for patients, relatives and carers whose lives are affected by any form of haematological cancer, e.g. leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma.

 

Where are you located:

Yarty Ward, Ground Floor, Area B, RD&E Hospital, Wonford

 

Treatments and procedures done:

Counselling appointments in the ward Quiet Room, and supportive counselling in ward and day case settings

 

Medical conditions treated:

Leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related illnesses

List of any charity partners:

The Counselling Service is provided by Exeter Leukaemia Fund who also fund an aromatherapist and a Physio-technician who work part time

 

Details of patient user / support groups:

Yarty Friendship Club – the Bereavement Support Group monthly morning meetings

Exeter Myeloma Support Group – monthly meetings, the last Wednesday of  each month in Yarty Reception, 6.30 to 8.00 pm

Lymphoma Support Group - monthly meetings, the 2nd Wednesday of each month, 7-8.30pm

Myelodysplastic Syndrome Support Group

 

Additional Information:

Any patient, and their relatives, being treated through the Haematology Centre is  entitled to free Counselling Appointments.  To book please Telephone 01392 402879.  Please leave a message with your name and Telephone number if the answerphone is on.
