First Aid Courses

Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, all employers are required to undertake a first aid needs assessment. This should incorporate specific area needs: shift patterns, type of work, availability of first aider, numbers in local workforce, potential hazards and risks.
It will also include how to nominate appropriate individuals to act as the local first aid provider. The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) recommends two levels of training:

First aiders are trained to deal with injuries and illness identified by the local first aid risk assessment and in-line with the HSE first aid curriculum. HSE guidance states that employers should remain competent to perform this specific role and meet the refresher course requirements detailed below.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
This is a 1 day (6 hr) course covering the core aspects of first aid, supporting people with potentially life-threatening emergencies, thus meeting the syllabus as defined by the Health & Safety Executive. Please ensure appropriate clothing is worn.

 

Content Delivery:    

Presentations and practical ‘hands on’ sessions

Course Time:

0900 - 16:30

Course Dates (2017):

24th July, 17th October and 13th December

Refresher:   

Annually (3 hours)


Course Cost: £90.00 per person or £75.00 per person for group booking for groups of 12 of more.

 

 

First Aid at Work (FAW)

This is a 3 day (18hr) course, which covers an extensive range of first aid emergencies; meeting the syllabus as defined by the Health & Safety Executive. Please ensure appropriate clothing is worn.

Course Time:

09:00 - 16:30 each day

Course Dates (2017)

5th - 7th September, 15th - 17th November

Refresher:   

Annually (3 hours)

 

Third year a 2 day (12 hour) re-certification course

 

Course Cost: £295.00 per person or £230.00 per person for group booking for groups of 12 of more.

 

 

CPR + AED + Anaphylaxis

A 3 hour session covering basic life support, using an automated external defibrillator (AED) and management of anaphylaxis. A practical ‘hands on’ session, covering the core skills of basic life support and use of an AED. Please ensure appropriate clothing is worn. Times and dates can be agreed to meet the needs of your service. Cost is £75.00 per person or £60.00 per person for group booking (12+).
