Describe the potential benefits and risks of treatment and discuss alternatives.

Ask for your fully informed consent to any operation, procedure or treatment.

Welcome your comments and deal with your concerns.

Tell you if your appointment will take a long time - because we have to do tests, for example.
Please be reassured that we will keep the information in your records confidential and give you access to your records in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000. For details please call our data protection officer on (01392) 402261.
If you have any questions or concerns please discuss these with your doctor or nurse.
If you feel unwell after you have gone home, or have any questions about your condition after you have finished your treatment as an outpatient at the RD&E, please speak about these with your GP in the first instance.
We ask you to:

Tell us about your condition or symptoms and about any allergies that you have.

Bring any medication you take, including complementary medicines.

Treat our staff with respect.

Arrange your transport home.
Please don't smoke in the hospital or courtyard gardens. If you want to know where smoking is allowed please ask a member of staff. For advice on how to stop smoking call the NHS smoking advice service on 0845 111 1142.
And please do not use a mobile phone anywhere in the hospital building.
