The Exeter Mobility Centre (EMC) provides a quality service to thousands of disabled people living in Devon and Somerset. The work of the EMC focuses on:

 

Orthotics

Assessment, supply and repair of special devices and footwear applied directly to the body to support, correct and compensate for physical weakness. The team specialises in paediatric, spinal and diabetic care. Click here for more information.

 

Prosthetics

Assessment and provision of artificial limbs after amputation or the absence of a limb for congenital reasons. The prosthetic service team provides a holistic approach by which medical, prosthetic and technical staff fit clients with prosthetic limbs to enable them to continue with their everyday life. Wheelchairs and Special Seating

Assessment and provision of equipment to maximise independence and promote good posture whilst enabling mobility. The wheelchair service provides and maintains a wide range of wheelchairs, special seating and pressure relieving cushions to over 13,000 clients through direct assessment as well as a network of local assessors and repairers. The EMC is part of the RD&E and is located in Lister Close off Wonford Road just a few hundred metres from the main hospital site.
